The Princess Charlene Rally for International Sports Day in Monaco

Happy April, everybody! I do hope that this month finds you warmer than it does me: my household celebrated this April morning with snow-shoveling. I don’t know about you, but I prefer my springtime months without snow. Though come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I spent a spring without it…which is rather sad. While my husband was digging the cars out for hopefully the last time this season, I perused the most recent photos of Princess Charlene in sunny Monaco, which were just taken a couple days ago. While International Sports Day isn’t officially until April 6, Monaco and the Princess Charlene Foundation celebrated a few days in advance – perhaps because of the students’ spring breaks or because of the busy schedules of the royals? Who knows why, the important part is that they celebrated! (Photos courtesy of Facebook.)

The Princess Charlene Foundation, along with various other organizations in Monaco, held the 3rd annual Princess Charlene Rally this past weekend, which involved around 500 middle school students from the principality. Various activities at the rally included races, workshops, conferences, teamwork activities, and even a visual arts center where the students could participate through drawing.

The Prince and Princess, of course, were a main center of excitement for the students, who got to mingle with the royals throughout the day. The princely couple posed for countless pictures with the participants, to the undoubted delight of the students themselves.

Charlene looked very casual and stylish in light colored skinnies, a navy blouse, an almost biker-style, short black jacket, and the most heavenly cream heels. I am thinking that these are Dior. Something about the heel reminds me very much of some other Dior pumps that she has. While this outfit is not bad – every element is great, in fact – something about the combination here really bothers me. I think I’m just being picky, but I didn’t enjoy the items all together, even though I like them individually. Is that just me? Due to the fact that each item is great, though, she can pull it off, and comes out of the whole thing looking pretty terrific.

Hair, makeup, and jewelry were soft, superb, and elegant, in that order. Charlene is always a picture of class when it comes to her jewelry options, specifically because she is always more understated. While I love glitz, I admire her more muted choices. (Also, it makes her glitzy moments really pack a heavy punch, which is all the more exciting.)

Here’s a sidenote, though: I sometimes wish that Albert would take a cue from Charlene’s dress code and match her a little more. Her ensemble was casual enough that they looked a little mismatched. But maybe that’s just me? It’s something I’ve noticed for some time now. He always looks good and she always looks good, but they don’t always match one another in tone. Anyway, there’s still a very cute couple, so I can’t complain too much!

Here’s hoping we get to see the couple again on the actual International Sports Day – until then, I wish you all a happy spring full of sunshine and blooms!
