Princess Charlene Visits Carmelite Nursery School

If everyone has been following the wonderful work that the Duchess of Cambridge does with children, you’re in for a treat today: Princess Charlene has also been focusing her energy on young children lately! Just a couple days ago, Charlene had an engagement at the Carmelite Nursery School in Monaco. (Photos courtesy of Facebook.)

The princess spent the day with the youngsters, reviewing the classrooms’ various developmental centers for things such as gross/fine motor manipulation and visual arts, and most importantly, was able to see the work that the school does for non-francophone students. The school hosts students from 28 different nationalities, so having a French as a Second Language program is essential for the language skills of these adorable, budding children.

I loved Charlene’s outfit! I am always amazed at how she can combine chic and casual all at once. Her jacket is so reminiscent of the style that Charlene loves – sort of a drapey, cape-style jacket – but I certainly haven’t seen it before. It reminds me very much of the jacket she wore to the Children’s Christmas Party in December, but this is a unique piece. As for her pants, at first I thought these were black leggings, but on closer inspection they are jeans. Like I said, chic and casual all in one outfit. Love!

Hair and makeup, of course, were perfection. She paired the casual, muted ensemble with a bright lip color and simple jewelry. The children must have very much enjoyed having a princess with them at school – though many of them might have been too young to understand the significance of such a visit. But they will get it when they’re older, because undoubtedly their parents are keeping these pictures forever!

I hope you all enjoyed these snaps of the princess with little kids. I know I did! On a sidenote: did anyone else notice that almost every kid in the top photo is wearing a puffy jacket? It’s either really cold in Monaco, or that trend is hitting its peak. Am I right?!

The Princely Couple Supports the Red Cross

Hello hello, my friends! Today I come to you with a half awesome and half boring post. The only reason it’s slightly boring is because I only have one photo. I am a photo fanatic, so for me this is a disappointment in itself. However! Everything else is awesome: the event, the cause, the outfit, all fantastic. I’ll jump into it now, so you can finally know what the topic is. Took me long enough to get there! (Photo courtesy of Facebook.)

A couple days ago, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene visited the Red Cross Vintimille camp for those seeking asylum, and to applaud the efforts of the Italian, French, and Monégasque Red Cross for their joint efforts. It was truly a very important event, and I’m completely surprised that we only have the one photo. Prince Albert is the president of the Monégasque Red Cross, so I figured the event would have been given more publicity…alas, I was mistaken.

But! Charlene certainly dressed for the occasion, to my sheer delight. She wore a gorgeous grey, A-line coat with a slightly darker grey turtleneck, bright-blue skirt, and matching bright-blue heels. I am, of course, obsessing over her shoes. I love them. And the grey-with-blue combination always sends my heart aflutter, so I was bowled over by this appearance. Elegance itself!

If more photos surface somewhere, I will certainly keep you all posted. But until then, enjoy this photo and drool over the shoes along with me!

A Valentine’s Look at Monaco’s Royal Lovebirds

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! I hope you are nestled with a loved one somewhere, safely snuggled under blankets on this freezing cold Sunday. I don’t know about where you live, but here in upstate NY it is a balmy 7 degrees, practically roasting compared to yesterday’s -6. Definitely not warm enough to justify going out to a restaurant or anything of the sort, so we’ve been huddled in the shelter of our home instead – though even that isn’t so warm, what with it being a very old house. So the blankets are piled on and I have been spending the day enjoying the warmth emanating from my laptop, sifting through some of Charlene and Albert’s most adorable photos, ones in which they look mesmerized with one another and utterly in love. These photos are enjoyable whether you’re coupled or single, because this couple is so cute it’s like looking at a basket of puppies.

This was the first time they appeared as an official couple, way back in 2006. They were freshly in a new relationship, enjoying the budding romance and fully in the love zone. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I want to draw little cartoon hearts all over their eyes in this photo. They are so cute.

And then there are the moments during official engagements, when Charlene and Albert seem to forget about cameras and fully fixate on each other. I particularly like these photos from some years ago, when the couple were participating in an in-water engagement, an event particularly suited to Charlene and a great display of their affection for one another.

Once again at a water-related engagement, this photo was taken last year during some water safety workshops for the Princess Charlene Foundation. The two are consistently transparent about their love, particularly for a royal couple, and seem to show quite a bit more PDA than their royal counterparts.

Again from last year, this was a shining moment for the couple as they celebrated Prince Albert’s 10 years on the throne. They hosted a celebratory concert in honor of the event, and the couple seemed so jubilant that they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other. In a totally PG way, of course, but no less setting up relationship goals for the rest of us!

While I stand by my opinion that the top loving looks between the couple seem to stem from informal engagements, I do have to admit that sometimes a cute moment or two is captured at the formal events. These next two were from this past year:

At the Red Cross Ball, where Charlene wore the infamous jumpsuit, she was no doubt a vision of loveliness in her husband’s eyes. I would have loved to hear what he said in this moment! She seems melty and enamoured.

Then it happened again at the Princess Grace Awards, only this time the impenetrable look of love is floating from Charlene to Albert. Once again, I’d love to hear what he said just before this look – it must have been good. She looks like she’s walking on air.

And who could resist looking back on their wedding day? The couple received a lot of unnecessary flak for their facial expressions that day, but I think there were plenty of times where they seemed undeniably in love and entranced with one another.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! May we all have lovey-dovey romances, candy hearts, and more pounds of chocolate than we could possibly ingest. Enjoy!

Princess Charlene Dons Cowgirl Costume for Father’s Birthday

This past Monday, royal watchers were all rather surprised and amused when we saw reports that Princess Charlene serenaded her father for his 70th birthday in Benoni, South Africa. She appeared to be there on her own, sans Prince Albert or their babies, and was hardly recognizable in her costume! (Photo courtesy of the Benoni City Times Facebook & Twitter pages.)

Family and friends of Charlene’s dad, Mike Wittstock, gathered in Benoni, where Charlene sang a country song to her father and gave him some thoughtful gifts, including a personalized deck of cards – complete with photos of his grandchildren – and a portrait of the Princely family. It was a quick trip for Charlene, who needed to go back to Monaco straightaway to be with her children, but it is so nice that she was able to be a part of the celebration. It must have been a very special surprise for Mike to have his daughter not only show up, but perform for him! (Am I the only one who didn’t know she could sing?)

But more to the topic we usually follow on our blog: what did you think of her outfit?! I was floored by the wig. Not that it was bad or anything – she would obviously be able to pull of this color/style if she chose to, because it looks really nice – but that she decided to wear one at all. I don’t quite understand the reason behind it, but then I haven’t put much thought into it. It just struck me as odd. Love that hat though!

Short post today, I know, but don’t fret: I’ve got some fun things planned for the upcoming week, so stay tuned!
